Trip Type: Spontaneous

Location: Mumbai, India

Month of visit: September 2023

Stay: Taj Mahal Palace and Taj Lands End

“From the aroma of vada pav to the luxury of the Taj—Mumbai welcomed us like family.”

There are cities you visit, and then there’s Mumbai—a place that greets you with open arms, bustling energy, and a little bit of Bollywood glamour. This wasn’t just another trip. It was our baby’s first time exploring India’s “City of Dreams”—and our first time experiencing the iconic Taj hospitality as a family.

🏨 Two Taj Experiences, One City

We stayed in two legendary Taj hotels over four days to enjoy the distinct charm each offered:

🏛️ The Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba

Perched right across the Gateway of India, this iconic property blended heritage with heart. Our room had a postcard-perfect view of the Gateway, and every corner of the hotel whispered elegance.

But what truly stole our hearts? The people.

    •    The staff surprised our baby with a stuffed puppy—a gesture that melted us.

    •    They even went the extra mile to prepare custom purees for our little one, ensuring each meal was gentle yet nourishing (since we’re still waiting on those tiny teeth!).

🌉 Taj Lands End, Bandra

After two days of old-world charm, we shifted to Taj Mumbai Lands End, which offered modern luxury and sprawling views of the sea link.

    •    The location is perfect for those who want to explore the Western Suburbs of Mumbai while relaxing in style.

    •    The sea breeze, infinity views, and quieter surroundings made it perfect for slower mornings with our baby.

🌆 Mumbai Moments: Food, Faith & Fashion

Mumbai is a feeling—an exhilarating mix of chaos and calm. Here’s what we did (and loved):

    •    Ate Vada Pav: You can’t come to Mumbai and not have this iconic snack. Spicy, crispy, and completely addictive.

    •    Shopped till we dropped: From local markets to upscale stores, Mumbai’s fashion game is unmatched. My sister and I definitely made the most of it!

    •    Visited Siddhivinayak Mandir: We offered prayers at one of Mumbai’s most revered temples. The experience was peaceful, grounding, and extra special with our baby in tow.

💖 The City That Cares

What stood out the most wasn’t just the luxury or landmarks—it was how baby-friendly people were:

    •    Locals always smiled at us, offering help as we navigated crowds with a stroller.

    •    Hotel staff showed a genuine interest in making things comfortable for our little one.

    •    Even during city chaos, we never felt overwhelmed—because Mumbai, in its own way, looks out for you.

🗺️ Quick Guide for Traveling to Mumbai with a Baby

    •    Stay near South Mumbai if you’re looking for cultural richness and proximity to key sights.

    •    Carry a lightweight stroller for navigating both malls and heritage spots.

    •    Don’t hesitate to ask for special food needs at premium hotels—they’re happy to help.

    •    Plan temple visits early in the day to avoid crowds.

🌇 Wrapping It Up: A City Etched in Our Hearts

Mumbai gave us far more than a vacation. It gave us memories, comfort, and smiles that we’ll hold onto forever. Watching the sun dip behind the Gateway from our room, hearing the distant sound of traffic while cuddling our baby—it was magic in motion.

Whether it’s your first trip with a little one or your hundredth, Mumbai promises a little chaos, a lot of charm, and a whole lot of heart.
