âA sunrise at the Taj Mahal, velvet lehenga-clad tourists, and horse rides at a Mughal palaceâAgra gave us stories that still make us smile.â
Some trips are about grand plans. Others are about good moments. Our visit to Agra was the perfect mix of regal charm, serene beauty, and spontaneous joy. With our baby in tow, we embraced a slow-paced, memory-filled getawayâand were rewarded with a trip that felt like a royal retreat.

đ¨ Staying in Style: ITC Mughal, Agra
We stayed at the stunning ITC Mughal, and if royalty had a weekend homeâit would look like this.
â˘Â    đż The greenery all around made the property feel more like a botanical retreat.
â˘Â    đ We even got to ride a horseâa fun surprise that made us feel like Mughal nobility for a moment.
â˘Â    đââď¸ The pool area was refreshingly beautiful and baby-friendly.
â˘Â    đ˝ď¸ And the food? Absolutely divineâpaired with live Indian classical music that set the perfect tone for dinner.
The entire ambiance was peaceful, polished, and a treat for all ages. Even our baby loved wandering the lawns with birds chirping overhead.

đ Sunrise at the Taj Mahal: A Moment of Awe
We woke up extra earlyânot just for the view, but also to beat the crowds (a must-do when traveling with a baby). As the sun rose, so did our excitement.
â˘Â    đ We took an electric cart from the main compound gate to the entranceâefficient and baby-stroller friendly.
â˘Â    đł The gardens were alive: people were doing yoga, kids played under mango trees, and birds filled the air with morning songs.
â˘Â    đď¸ After grabbing our tickets, we entered just in time to witness the sunrise painting the Taj Mahal in golden light. It wasâŚpure magic.
đ Why the Taj Mahal Is So Special
â˘Â    Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj is a symbol of eternal love.
â˘Â    Made of ivory-white marble, it changes color with the time of dayâfrom blush pink at sunrise to glowing gold by sunset.
â˘Â    The Yamuna River flows gracefully behind it, and that morning we saw birds soaring through a cloudless blue sky, the cool breeze wrapping around us like poetry.
We also had a good laugh seeing foreign tourists dressed in full velvet lehengas and sherwanis. In Agraâs summer heat! We were in aweâand confusion: How were they surviving this fashionably?!

đ° Agra Fort: Where Royal Lives Once Unfolded
Later, we visited the magnificent Agra Fort, just a few kilometers away from the Taj.
â˘Â    This UNESCO World Heritage Site was the main residence of the Mughal emperors before the capital shifted to Delhi.
â˘Â    It was built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century, and later embellished by Shah Jahan.
đ Highlights:
â˘Â    đ We saw the royal bathtub, said to belong to Shah Jahanâs son, Prince Dara Shikoh. Crafted from carved stone, itâs massiveâand oddly photogenic!
â˘Â    đď¸ We explored his bedroom, grand courtyards, and intricately designed balconies.
â˘Â    đŞ From multiple vantage points, we spotted the Taj Mahal framed perfectly in the distanceâShah Jahan was once imprisoned here by his own son, Aurangzeb, and spent his final years looking out at the monument he built for his love.
Walking through the fort was incredibly fascinating but also physically demanding. By the end, we were joyfully exhausted, ready for some cool nimbu pani and a nap!

â˘Â    Waking early made our sightseeing smooth and baby-friendly.
â˘Â    Electric carts and thoughtful locals helped us navigate easily.
â˘Â    Helpful locals added warmth to our experienceâalways ready with a smile or directions.

⨠Final Thoughts: Short but Wonder-Filled
Agra surprised us with how much it packed into a short tripâluxury, laughter, history, and heart.
We saw love etched in marble, stood where emperors once ruled, and created our own royal momentsâcomplete with baby giggles and horse rides.
